GRINGO - Xperimental (2010)

New album from Moçambiquean producer Gringo, and one that goes side by side with its title!! Xperimental is a conceptual album that comes from the combination of the words "Experience" and "Instrumental", where Gringo distinguishes himself in 4 musical genres, The Vintage, The Progressive, The Hi-Tech and The Soulful, and is exactly with this word that Gringo goes deeply and majestic!! Gringo uses several new ways to make his soulful sounds even more captivating than in his previous effort, opening new boundaries to his fascinating Instrumental Hip Hop world. The Dillanesque tinged beats of Bitologista opens a bit of a space for far rich and different elements like 80´s influenced beats, Future Funk, avant Jazz Funk, Brazilian Bossa, modern Electronica, New Grooves and more, but always keeping the identity, that reflects the most perfect, loyal and humble incarnation of Dilla!! Gringo´s definetly ready for a BIG contract and we´ll be here to support it (LABELS, WHAT ABOUT BEING VOLUNTEERS??)!! We´re proud to have this man as a partner - and last but not least - to review this awesome album!!

SARA TAVARES - Xinti (2009)

Great sunshine Soul from Sara Tavares, brimming with Cape Verdean guitar licks, angolese rhythms and warm portuguese vocals!! Sara never sounded more intense like this startling collection of songs, packed with surprises that displays how progressively richer and more expansive Sara Tavares vocal repetoire has become since her previous album!! Her songs are lyrcial, sensual and more textured. They are intimate but also wrapped in irresistibly funky rhythms drawn from the Cape Verdean, african, brazilian and caribbean diaspora!!

JUN MIYAKE - Mondo Erotica! (2001) / Innocent Bossa In The Mirror (2002) / Glam Exotica! (2003) / Stolen From Strangers (2008)

Four wonderful albums from Japan´s Jun Miyake, all full of warm jazzy Bossa, and collaborations from Arto Lindsay, brazilian Vinicius Cantuaria and others!! These album's are stripped-down, no-nonsense, and honestly the best recent brazilian efforts we've heard from Lindsay, sad and dreamy, with none of the slickness that other Modern Bossa albums might have. Miyake's piano has a Satie-like quality that resonates strongly in the space of the arrangements!!
