ZO! - ...Just Visiting Too (2009)

Fantastic stuff from keyboardist and producer Zo!, the follow up to his Just Visiting EP previously released!! There’s nothing better than when the future of Soul all comes together for an album. But when the announcement of the formation of Foreign Exchange Music came several months ago, we held out hope that more music would be forthcoming, allowing the loose consortium of friends and artists to collaborate more. The time is now as Zo! manages to bring together some of music’s most talented, if yet unrecognized voices like Sy Smith, Darien Brockington, Phonte, Yahzarah & Carlitta Durand to assist in …Just Visiting Too. The free, seven track album features talented singers alongside the creative hands & mind of Zo! handling the production and majority of the instruments. Taking a handful of originals by Prince, The Isley Brothers, Quincy Jones & others, Zo! revisits & revamps them with warm, mellow arrangements of keys, guitars, handclaps & fingersnaps. Classy 21st Century Soul sounding!!

THE REVELATIONS FEATURING TRE´ WILLIAMS - The Bleeding Edge (2009)

Funky Soul from The Revelations and lead vocalist Tre Williams, a deeply soulful set that's a great mix of Classic Soul and Funk influences, but hardly a throwback, actually quite a timeless, live band Soul set!! Some of the tunes feel like a modern spin on Hi Records style Soul, with punchy horns, soulful guitar licks, solid drums and bass, and groovy keys, but it feels sharply of the here and now. Williams' vocals are a soulful and real, and the songs, co-written by Hip Hop veteran Rell Gaddis and top notch, all the way. The Revelations are the real thing!!

SWEET VANDALS - Lovelite (2009) (NEW LINK)

The lovelite's burning strong on this second set from The Sweet Vandals, an album that cooks even more than their debut!! The grooves are even tighter than before, still steeped in 60´s Soul influences, but with a heavier dose of Funk too, a mad-romping blend of hard drums, bad-stepping bass, and heavy Hammond, all topped by the searing Soul vocals of Mayka Edjole!! These guys hail from Spain, but have a Deep Funk groove that's plenty universal, and with an album this strong, you can bet we'll be hearing plenty from them on this side of the Atlantic in coming years!!

1. Thank You For You
2. Good Thing
3. Take Me Now
4. Let's Have Some Fun
